Our history
The Glenorie District Medical Centre has a long and proud tradition of caring for the Glenorie community.

The original Glenorie Medical Centre was founded in 1984 by Dr Molly Hyslop and Dr Pip Gibian at 6 Post Office Road. With young families and limited resources, the two doctors renovated the property themselves and built a practice that quickly became a cornerstone of the rural community. Glenorie at that time was surrounded by working farms, many run by Italian migrant families known for their remarkable flower crops. As the area grew, so did the practice, expanding rapidly to meet the needs of young families and the wider district.

With no local after-hours services, the doctors shared night and weekend call with the Galston Medical Centre, covering areas from Dural and Galston to Maroota. Weekend clinics, home visits, and even farm emergencies were part of daily life. What some initially called a “little ladies’ practice” soon became a thriving family medical centre known for its high-quality, compassionate and reliable care.

In 2007, the practice was sold to Dr Clare Donnelly, who renamed it the Glenorie District Medical Centre and moved it into a purpose-built, modern facility at 920B Old Northern Road. Dr Hyslop and Dr Gibian continued to serve the community there for many years as the practice modernised and Glenorie evolved.

A new chapter began in 2018, when the practice was acquired by Drs Belinda and Sheila Lorenzo. The Lorenzos have continued the centre’s legacy of ethical, holistic and patient-centred care, while expanding services to meet the growing needs of the community.
